Rocky Mount, NC

Rocky Mount Mills is a mixed-use development project that includes craft breweries, unique office space, and residences on an 80-acre parcel in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Privately owned by Raleigh-based Capitol Broadcasting, the development is housed in the 140-year-old historic cotton mill, the second-oldest in the state. The property features outdoor spaces for live music, games, and hiking along the banks of the picturesque Tar River. The adjacent “Village at Rocky Mount” features new and renovated village homes for rent.

During his partnership with Capitol Broadcasting, Braird Founder Slates Snider was responsible for the historic registration of the Rocky Mount Mills with the State of North Carolina’s Preservation Office. Working with architects, contractors, engineers and municipal officials, Snider successfully received Parts I and II application approval of the registration of the property as a National Historic Place, enabling the project to move forward with tax credit financing. Additionally, registration was obtained certifying the property as a historic mill, thereby qualifying for additional financing through the State of North Carolina’s Mill Rehabilitation Program.

Also during his time on the Rocky Mount Mills project, Snider was responsible for business plan and concept development, creation of marketing and branding campaigns, and financial underwriting of the craft brewing tenants and operating businesses.
