Pinehurst, NC

The Pinehurst Brewing Company, a craft brewery and restaurant in The Village of Pinehurst, opened in the fall of 2018. The brewery occupies what was the original Village steam plant, built in 1895, and retains the original brick façade and much of the character of the historic building. Braird created and successfully pitched the concept of an in-house brewery to the executive leaders of the eponymous golf resort, and served as a development consultant on the project. Braird’s consultative duties included business plan creation, financial modeling, obtainment of ABC licenses and permits, and equipment selection and implementation.

The Pinehurst Brewing Company also features a 10-barrel system for on-site brewing and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, including a beer garden. A portion of the outdoor seating is covered by a trellis designed to mimic the original trolley track that brought coal into the steam plant, which was located in the same area. The design incorporates the original pylons that held the track in the early 1900s. Also included in the renovation is the rebuilt smokestack, which was a defining landscape feature of the original Village.
